I am a proud father of 2 grown children, grandfather of 3, and a husband for 32 years. I am 56 this year, but I feel that I'm getting younger in a way, maybe it's the grand-kids.
I am in my 29th year owning my own landscaping company. While it has been both lucrative and fun, it is a physical drain in an industry where I'm 15-25 years older than most my 'compitition'. As they say 'better with age!'
The first 18 years of landscaping, I also worked a full-time job, so 9 months a year I worked on average 85 hours to a high of 104 hours in one week back in 1996. During this time we also looked into a networking company, and got involved in 2000, while this was not my first attempt, the results were much better.
I did not realize the price that I would pay, 5-6 days a week I left for work before my kids got up in the morning, and got home about a half hour after dark. I missed out on seeing my own children grow up, several months a year.
Why do I tell you this? Simple, this is my WHY No parent should work so much that they miss seeing thier children grow up. This is a regret I will have for the rest of my life. If I can help any parent, mother or father, be able to spend more time at home, that's GREAT.
